While for many years I experimented endlessly with various materials inside Projectors, I was also fascinated with the power of projection, and the way the projected image often looks more solid than the surface projected upon. there’s a striking example here, ‘Pasta Fems’ in which the Pasta looks more three dimensional and substantial than the models, who tend to disappear, an illusion supported by the ‘pasta’ giving the appearance of a Cage!
Some friends modelled for me in 1968 and the results were quite amazing, considering I couldn’t afford to ‘bracket’ but was determined to make every shot ‘pay’.
One of my most fascinating projects was Experimenting with Body Projection which I did every few years starting in 1969. The results were just extraordinary and I just wish I’d done more! I may.
